Postcard wonders

Here are some of the postcards I gathered from a party I went to... People were quite ashamed haha. And I read it back out to them for everybody to hear. Ha, they were not happy.

ENJOY PEOPLE!

Day three - 29th of October 2010

Started today with an apple, a banana and a sneaky piece of garlic bread. ( I love it any time of the day). It was followed at lunch time by a salad and some of Gunny's left over Jambalaya.

I went out to dinner with Kuseah, Sarsha, Sarah, Nathan and Olivia at Nero's cafe in Epping. They are a small Italian cafe who serve lovely pastas and amazing garlic bread. Yum. Of course Kuseah was late so Sarah, Sarsha and i started off with some garlic bread. It was amazing. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Seriously. As you can see below, we also had some wine... well... i had some wine. Lots and lots of wine.

There was a Caravella function upstairs (think the Sopranos of Epping) so it was really busy. Dinner was taking longer than usual. There was some sort of screw up in the kitchen and they made an extra chicken pesto pasta (Sarsha's fav). So Nel gave it to us to snack on while we waited for our real meals. It was pretty good! You can see i'm getting more and more "happy" by the quality of my photos. How funny.

I ordered the gnocci with sausages and sweat potato in a tomato sauce. Not going to lie, i liked the chicken pesto better but you win some you loose some. I'll know for next time.

Yes so as i was saying before there was plenty of wine consumed at this dinner. It was Wednesday, we were in Epping. Nathan and Olivia live in the city so Kuseah and i decided to show them what Epping on a Wednesday was all about. Don't fall for the trap! No matter how drunk you are Epping is never the right idea. So our classy (and i use the term loosely...) dinner turned into...

and

Geez.

Sarah Keast, over and out!

It feels weird...

... it's like throwing up everything you have
eaten today and seeing it all there in front of you!

Man-Heels

I'M DANE FUCKING RHOOK, THAT'S WHO!

So, this week I haven't been that keen on meat or milk. Don't ask me why... it's a stage that I often go through. I'm usually forced to eat meat because that is what's made for dinner (well, I make it for my family). This week, however, I have no parents so I get to make my own dinners.

This morning I was in zombie mode until I got half way to work when I realised I forgot my muesli bar (oh noes!). So when I got to work I bought myself a slice of toasted Pear & Raspberry Bread along with my usual double-shot soy cap.

[leave my phone camera alone]

It was OK. I still would have preferred my muesli bar.

Next came lunch. It was leftover Moroccan Sweet Potato, Carrot & Chickpea Soup with toast. It was peppery & marvellous.

[no, I didn't finish my crossword :( ]

Uhh, I got home & turned the oven on. I had decided that I really wanted sweet potato crisps (I know, I'm probably going to turn orange). Then I saw some Turkish bread staring up at me screaming at me to smother it in garlicky butter & toast it. So I did.

[better camera this time]

It was definitely smothered in garlicky butter, then followed by dried oregano & cheese then I grilled the hell out of it (to golden brown).

Jemma Rhook & I enjoyed it very much.

So I ended up slicing a sweet potato & putting them in the oven. I also got a field mushroom & put that on the BBQ along with some slices of Turkish bread. Then I assembled this Mushroom Burger:

It had mushroom, basil, tomato, red onion, cucumber, avocado, baby spinach, baby rocket & aioli.

I realise that today was all about bread. Everything I ate incorporated bread. Tomorrow I'm going to try & not have bread.

Ta.

what a crazy hectic day!

rice bubbles again for breakfast. you are probably going to find me to be a very boring eater, i generally stick to the same stuff.

was working really hard on my project sewing away like a crazy person all morning and didn't want to stop too long for a lunch break but started getting woozy.. so i fixed myself some vegemite and butter on toast, wholegrain of course. i HATE white bread. quite a good thing really.

needed an afternoon snack again today. i think my sewing wore me down so much i was starting to feel woozy and wanted sugar. normally, i would have made cookies but i didn't have time to waste on that so i asked my sister to make pie. she is a terrible baker but makes amazing pies. we call her the pie queen in our house. she developed a love of pies like a year ago or something, i think because she bought a book of 500 pie recipes. and now she has a number of books in her collection. she had to make to with what was in the house so took a recipe for pear and almond pie (a household favourite) and used strawberries in place of pears. it was not as good as the pear version but still delicious and just what i needed. i wolfed it down in all of a second.

my dad was meant to cook dinner tonight but was off doing something, probably rehearsing with his band (yeah hes a mad musician and plays guitar in a band with a bunch of other old dudes. they're actually really rather good) anyway it was kind of fend for yourself tonight. my brother and sister had oven pizzas that were in our freezer but i really didn't want any. when i finally stopped for dinner (sewing DONE :D ) i couldnt be fucked to make anything so decided to just heat up some leftovers from last night. i reckon coconut noodles taste better the next day anyway.
.

anyway speaking of project, i really should get back to it!!

ciao for now,
Emma

Should I be ashamed?

I'll let you decide ;)

hump day

i started the day with my usual breakfast - a bowl of rice bubbles. yes they are childish, but they are delicious and surprisingly healthy!

Was running around chatswood in the morning getting bits and pieces for my project and, as always happens when i am in chatswood, i started craving sushi. so i figured its healthy, and requires no preparation effort on my part, so i got some. 2 avocado rolls. i'm simple like that. mmmmm...
Snacked on a couple of jatz biscuits in the afternoon. seriously, so weak!! whenever there are jatz in the house i can't help but eat them but when they are not in the house, i feel sad. i should really stop putting them on the shopping list though!

weds night is always a favourite dinner-wise. the parents usually go off the play trivia with their friends so me, my brother and my sister order takeaway food and watch tv. currently playing on our tv every weds night is chuck season 2. my sister and i love it and decided to get our brother watching it too. if you haven't seen it, its AWESOME. i'm not nerdy like my siblings and yet i love the geeky spy stuff in the show. plus it has an awesome soundtreack. I LOVE YOU JOSH SCHWARZ. ok sorry, i love tv even more than food.. um so tonight we had thai food. i filled my bowl up with rice, pad thai and chicken coconut noodles. derricious!

ciao for now,
Emma

Day two - Tuesday the 26th of October 2010

Day two was slightly better... Maybe.

I started the day well, with an apple and a banana followed by a healthy salad for lunch (made by my Mother) which consisted of lettuce, tomatos, cucumber and mushrooms. It was pretty damn tasty but not very satisfying i must admit.

By the time i finished work i was starving. I had to go to North Rocks to print off my 21st invites (if you are lucky enough you may even get one). While i was waiting for them to finish i treated myself to a Gözleme from the Dergah Grill. Which is a little Turkish take away shop. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty damn tasty except it made me feel gross after because it was quite oily. It had beef, spinach and cheese inside it. It's making me hungry just thinking about it.

Excuse the blurry photo, its quite difficult to take photos, eat and walk at the same time... I went straight from here to Dane's and we went to the movies to see Easy A, which is an awesome movie. Emma Stone is such a babe not to mention Penn Badgley. I had a frozen coke during the movies then Dane and i went to drive thru Maccas for post movie Mc Flurries. This was probably the worst thing i ate today. I don't even know. At least it wasn't as bad as yesterday...

Sarah Keast, over and out!

another guilty eater to add into the mix..

I decided to start blogging on Tuesday (26th) because sunday was my 21st birthday and I ate like a pig for 2 days.. It's a fair excuse but it did not need to be seen in pictures. The highlights of my Sunday were blueberry pancakes with marscapone at the Bathers Pavillion on Balmoral Beach and also strawberry tart from Pattisons Bakery - my FAVOURITE.

anyway, this post is about Tuesday.. (and the reason I am so late in posting up is because I am dying underneath my own design project atm) I woke up craving something healthy for breakfast so i made myself a fruit salad of kiwi fruit and stawberries (my favourite fruit combo). I washed that down with a coffee. We (finally) got a coffee machine on the weekend in celebration of my parents 23rd wedding anniversary. awesome, but its so not going to help me cut down on my caffeine intake :|

It's probably somewhat important to note that I have put myself on a semi-diet the other week. I'm trying to get myself to only eat 3 meals a day cause i'm a big fattie who loves to snack and I have a giant Europe belly to prove it (i spent the frist 6 months of this year overseas). Lunch - I had half a peshwari naan (ate the other half yesterday) and some jatz crackers (god they are delicious!). for those that don't know, peshwari naan is a sweet naan bread filled with like sulatanas and stuff. it's fucking amazing. my best friends parents own an indian restaurant and this is my favourite thing of the menu. she very kindly brought me some when she surprised me with a visit on sunday (she lives in canberra atm).

I was a bit naughty and decided I really needed a sugar hit after all the work I had been doing. These LCM rice bubble choc chip bars are still as good as they were when i was back in primary school.

Dinner time! I was cooking tonight which means ridiculously good food :p um but seriously.. I made chicken tacos tonight, something I haven't cooked in aaages. I stupidly forgot to take a photo when everything was just made and on the table so excuse the crappy looking taco, it was the last one when ingredients were light.. So basically i had sweet chilli and lime chicken breast pieces with homemade guacamole (i just like to smoosh avocados with some lemon juice and salt and pepper) and some lettuce. TASTY!

Pretty sure I had a little bit of chocolate after dinner also. That's usually a given with me.

Ciao for now,
Emma

What a day to start this blog on, I've not eaten this badly in a while but here goes nothing...

I started the day off with a banana and a Vegemite sandwich, honestly anyone who doesn't like Vegemite is insane. You can't fault it on anything, serious comfort food. Got to work and had some watermelon for morning tea. This is where the crap begins. Dane didn't go to work today so i forced him to come and have lunch with me. We went to a place on Church St in Parramatta called Wrap Station. Seriously, they have the best garlic sauce there ever. I love garlic, its like my favourite thing ever. Even more so than Vegemite. I had the chicken wrap which had hummus, tabbouleh, tomato and chicken (duh!). Dane had the chicken burger and we shared some chips. Dane and i are huge Oporto fans and he said that it was "Oporto good" if that's any indication. So much garlic, i die.

After work i headed over to Nel's place to have dinner. My friend Gunny is a pretty good (don't want to give him a big head) cook and he usually cooks us dinner on a Monday night. It's always quite exciting. We snacked on Red Rock Deli chips and Junior mints while we waited for Gunny to cook us dinner.

Gunny cooked us Jambalaya which (according to Wikipedia) is a Louisiana Creole dish of Spanish and French influence. It is a rice dish with chicken, sausage (he used pepperoni but usually its chorizo) some veggies. Cooked with tomato paste and chicken stock. It is rather delicious.

This dinner was obviously followed by desert, which was just double choc chip ice cream. I think that was my real down fall.

Tomorrow i'll be better i swear...

Sarah Keast, over and out.
